Our Story
Mainline Hair Restoration was founded by Dr. Shyam, a board-certified dermatologist and hair restoration surgeon. The mission is simple:

Dr. Nikhil Shyam
Nikhil Shyam, MD is a nationally recognized and board-certified member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Shyam received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he majored in nutritional sciences. He is an Alpha Omega Alpha honor graduate from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his internship at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He completed his residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins University.
Following residency, he completed a fellowship with world-renowned expert, Dr. Marc Avram in medical and surgical hair restoration. Dr. Shyam is an expert in the field of platelet-rich plasma and its use in alopecia. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on the latest in medical and surgical hair restoration techniques.

Dr. Shyam subsequently moved from NYC to the Mainline suburbs of Philadelphia in 2021 where he set up his hair loss clinic at Mainline Dermatology. Dr. Shyam also created Mainline Hair Restoration to help educate patients about the various causes of alopecia and to help empower patients in a field that is fraught with misinformation. With over 12 years of rigorous training at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, Dr. Shyam seeks to provide his patients with the highest quality and most compassionate care utilizing the latest in medical research and practice techniques. He is a firm believer in a team-oriented approach and works collaboratively with his patients to help guide and formulate personalized treatment plans. Utilizing his background in nutrition and grounded in evidence-based medicine, Dr. Shyam brings a comprehensive approach to his hair loss patients.

Dr. Shyam lectures nationally at dermatology conferences, including the American Society for Dermatological Surgery, and continues to be a thought leader in the field of dermatology and hair restoration.
